The Oxford Gargoyles are one of the UK’s leading jazz a cappella ensembles comprised of students from both Oxford University and Oxford Brookes. Their stellar mix of black-tie class, charm, wit and impeccable musicality has delighted audiences far and wide for well over a decade. With their toe-tapping jazz standards, grooving funk tunes and of course, reinterpreted Disney classics, the Gargoyles are sure to dazzle you with unforgettable performances!

You can find samples of tracks from current and previous Gargoyles albums along with a few Videos in the Media section of the site.

Updates updates updates

First and foremost, we have an upcoming Christmas concert this Sunday (1st December) at 7.30pm at The House Bar in Oxford. If you are based in Oxford or in the general vicinity this weekend do check out the Facebook event and if you want to come Book tickets here. It should be really great fun, so hopefully we will see you there.

In other news all of the profiles of the members of our current group have been created or updated. Check them out here! On a similar theme, we have uploaded several photos from our recent photoshoot.

A final thing we wanted to point out which may help with navigating the site. For any posts which have a Gargoyle logo next to the title (like this one), you can hover your mouse over the logo to find category and click that to look through posts of the same type. This should become increasingly helpful as this site grows.

On a slightly more sad note, we bid a very fond farewell to:

Lauren Au (Alto/President)
Carmen Perez (Alto)
Henry de Berker (Tenor/Publicity Officer)
Hamish Sabey-Corkindale (Bass/Business Manager)

Auditions – 2013

2013_AuditionsPosterSo it is the beginning of a new year at Oxford and, as always, we are looking to recruit new members in the Gargoyles. If you are a student in Oxford who is interested in being one of us then auditions will be running from the end of Freshers’ Week. If you would like to audition, check out our stall at the University Freshers’ Fair or Email us, and make sure you are ready to perform a single song which you think displays your singing talent best. You don’t need to have had any formal training, we will judge you entirely on your own merit at the auditions.

We will be around Oxford during Fresher’s week, at the Freshers’ Fair and we will be singing at numerous events, but if you want a flavour of what and how we perform, check out the Media tab of this site. Every year, as well as performing at several times a term within Oxford, we go on Tour and perform at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival (both really awesome experiences).

Exciting times. Exciting times indeed.
